John has been CEO of media companies in four countries ranging from less than $20 million in annual revenues to more than $1.2 billion and from 100 employees to 10,000 employees.

He is the founder and former CEO of Digital First Media, the No. 2 newspaper company in the U.S, and co-founder and former CEO of impreMedia, the largest Hispanic news-and-information company in the country. He is a director of The Guardian in the UK; El Pais, and PRISA in Spain with divisions in 22 countries. He is Chair of the advisory board of Cxense in Norway and member of the advisory board of the San Francisco-based video start-up Tout and Columbia Journalism Review.

He has more than $7 billion in transactions and financings (involving both public and private companies) under his belt.

In 2009, he was awarded Publisher of the Year by Editor & Publisher and has been named a finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young in New York City. A graduate of Ryerson University’s journalism program and Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration’s Finance for Senior Executives program, John is based in New York City.
